My parents took me to see an amazing collection of amor in NYC. It was fantastic.
The curves and ridges on this helmet are so that swords swung at the head will just glance off and do minimum damage.

Any guesses on how long it took to make this helmet? Wow.
That is the coolest shield I have ever seen in my life. Drool.
The knights were the tanks of the medieval battlefield! Can you imagine facing one of these guys on foot?
It seems that the metal pieces on the shoulders would make the swords slide INTO the neck, not protect the neck area. If anyone knows why they are shaped this way, let me know.
Nice detail work.
This is armor without chainmaille. I have to draw your attention to the gauntlets (gloves.) I can't believe that someone made them that detailed with a hammer.
My mom said, " I like the flower on that armor."
I replied, "That 'flower' is so that a lance doesn't make his shoulder a shish-ka-bob."
"Oh."

This is some of the nicest armor I have seen, it would really protect you! We were struck by how small the waists of the knights were.
You might notice that the rings are flat and riveted. The rivits increase the time it takes to make chainmaill exponentially, but they are much stronger that non-riveted stuff. As you can guess, this knight's chainmaill cost a whole lot!!
The open fingers on the gloves mean that the knight can handle his sword easier but, he will break more fingers... I'm not sure if the tradeoff is worth it...
This a rich knight's armor. You can see that the chainmaill is used to protect the joints because it is very strong and flexible. I can't imagine how that knight doesn't hit walls from wearing that helmet, much less fighting.
The conical shape of the helmet makes swords slide off, instead of cleaving the poor knights head in two!
My mom wants to know how he sees. Acually (My mom said she understands this. She wouldn't want to see what was coming either!!)
This is fencing armor. I have to say, I would prefer the bigger and metal stuff for a fight...
The 11 musketeers were here! (just kidding).
